First Hospitalization

My mom hasn't been feeling well and today she felt particularly worse. Our family doctor, who should probably retire soon, could not help her. The secretary at the doctor's office advised my mom to go to the hospital. I told my mom that if she is still able to drive herself then she should do it. I would have driven her, but I could not because there was no one available to watch my dad. So my mom drove herself to the hospital and made it to the parking lot, then someone helped her get into the emergency room. I gave my mom a hand-written note to show people there in case they had trouble understanding what she was saying. She was experience worsening shortness of breath and coughing, chest pain when she bends forward, and both of her ankles were swollen. Having lived in the U.S. for more than 27 years, this is my mom's first time going to the hospital for not feeling well.
